Crap-free crate digging since 2017.

Located in the Coolidge Corner neighborhood in Boston, Village Vinyl and Hi-Fi specializes in quality records and stereo equipment at prices that will keep you coming back.

VINYL

10,000 records but no Perry Como.

Poor Perry. It’s not his fault he sold a lot of records no one wants to listen to now. But the point is we have the records music lovers really want. Jazz, rock, blues, electronica, heavy metal, folk, country, hip-hop, classical, reggae, pop, rockabilly, soundtracks and any other thing worth listening to. The quality of our records range from good to mint and are identified as such right on the 5 mil clear plastic sleeve we slip every one of them into.

Below you’ll find a very small selection what we have in store for you. What’s more, they’re also available at our Discogs store. While it’s no substitute for an IRL visit, it will have to do until you get here.

From the Blog

Mono vs. Stereo

Do the often-touted mono versions of our favorite records really sound better than their stereo counterparts? Are they really worth the high prices they they can command? Or is this more audio snobbery with a shot of snake oil? Long-time record expert and amiable audio aficionado Todd Crisman gives a thorough, and some would say, thoroughly unsatisfying answer.

HI-FI

Audiophile sound at a price that you can actually afford.

Because no one should have to sell a kidney to get great sound.

In addition to awesome records, we sell quality used and vintage gear. Turntables, amps, speakers we’ve got the whole tamale. We buy quality components from music lovers like you, test and repair them (if necessary) and sell them to the next music-loving owners at a small markup. Ah, the circle of life; it’s a beautiful thing. And speaking of repairs, we’ll maintain and repair your gear to keep you in the sweet spot for years to come.
